about

Hip Hop pioneers MC G.L.O.B.E and MC Sha-Rock unite for the first time ever, with ‘Scratches, Cuts, and the MCs Rhymes’ via Irish record label, Resume Recordings.

This eight track single is available digitally, and on limited edition 12” ‘white’ vinyl.

Backed by Irish turntable ensemble ‘D22 Turntable Quartet’, MC’s, G.L.O.B.E. & Sha-Rock, tear it up on this B-boy friendly, scratch heavy record, by simply returning to Hip Hop basics. ‘Scratches, Cuts, and the MCs Rhymes’.
With an Original mix, and both Instrumental and Scratchapella versions, this record boasts eight killer cuts, with remixes chosen by Cut ‘n Paste royalty, Double Dee & Steinski, via the 2023 Resume Recordings – Remix Contest.

THE PLAYERS
MC G.L.O.B.E. (Soul Sonic Force), author of Hip Hop classics such as Planet Rock, Looking for the Perfect Beat, and Renegades of Funk (to name but a few), is an originally 70s B-boy and part of the first generation of Hip Hop royalty. G.L.O.B.E. is the creator of the ‘MC Popin’ rhyme style, and was inducted into the Universal Hip Hop Museum in 2021.

MC Sha-Rock (Funky Four Plus One), is ‘THE’ first female MC. The ‘Funky Four Plus One’ were the first Rap act to perform on national television in the U.S., following a request from Debbie Harry of Blondie for them to perform on the hit T.V. show, Saturday Night Live, back in 1980.

The D22 Turntable Quartet (hailing from the Dublin suburb of Clondalkin, as the name suggests) are made up of former World Scratch Champion - DJ Flip, and 80s battle DJs, Cutmaster Jay, DJ Control, and Dj Laz-e, who also pioneered Irelands B-boy scene as far back as 1982.

“It was imperative that I got the old gang back together for this one. These guys were killing it on the wheels of steel back in 1986, before Hip Hop was even getting played on mainstream Irish radio. They were so talented, and years ahead of their time. To have them perform on the record is a dream come true. Honestly.
Funny thing… it had been thirty years since Cutmaster Jay had even touched a turntable, so he had to get that muscle memory back. I loaned him a mixer and turntable, and a few records to practice on. Within a couple of days, he was back in business.”
DJ Control sadly passed away in August 2023, following a short illness. He was an amazing DJ and friend, and a dedicated family man. His genius will live on through his art.

- DJ Laz-E

Jimmy Green (Green Kanine) is a classically trained pianist and multi-instrumentalist whose talents extend to the wheels of steel. With a history of remix work for a star-studded list of Hip Hop cats, Jimmy produced the goods once again in 2023, bagging place in the Resume Recordings remix contest.

Rob Troy (Rob - T) is a British Hip Hop DJ/producer, now residing in Canada. Not one to follow rules, Rob combines the sounds of church and House music, taking us away to another place with his ‘Different Mix’.

Carlos Aguilar (DJ Quest) is an award winning U.S. DJ/producer, hailing from Ecuador. Quest is a founding member of San Francisco’s ‘Bulletproof Scratch Hamsters’ turntable group, as well as experimental Jazz ensemble, Live Human. DJ Quest also featured in the 2021 Doug Pray film, SCRATCH, and has collaborated with such artists as DJ Shadow, Peanut Butter Wolf, and Handsome Boy Modeling School.

DJ Pnutz is a three time San Diego Music Awards nominee, and producer of ‘Treel Tales of Number Running’, winner of the 2015 ‘SDMA’ for ‘Best Hip Hop Album’. Pnutz is also responsible for the 2012 album, Rackmount, and 2016’s, The Good Wife’s Guide To Beatmaking. It becomes evident that drums are clearly her forte, as Pnutz sets her percussive skills out for display with this killer, ‘B-Girl Mix’ of ‘Scratches, Cuts, and the MCs Rhymes’

Resume Recordings is the brainchild of Irish broadcaster and 80s B-boy, Eric Moore (aka) DJ Laz-E, following an almost thirty year hiatus from making music. The label was founded in 2020 with the intention of recording with some like-minded pals from back in the day, who, like Eric, had also put the dream of making records on hold. Hence the labels name, Resume Recordings. No sooner had the name been chosen when the dream grew from just a few pals in a studio, to recording Hip Hop royalty.
